Community & Outdoor Recreation Committee

In June 2025, the Denali Borough Assembly established a standing Community and Outdoor Recreation Committee (CORC) to serve as an advisory body to guide recreation improvements, review and provide recommendations regarding Borough recreation facilities, and assist in the implementation and future revision of the Community and Outdoor Recreation Plan. Applications for the committee have closed. A 5-to-7-member committee will be appointed by the Mayor and presented to the Assembly at their September meeting.

Healy Area School Paths

Parks Highway Separated Paths Project

The Denali Borough is partnering with Alaska DOT&PF on securing funding and executing design, engineering, and construction of segments of a separated path along the Parks Highway.

Parks Hwy- MP 231 Enhancement Project

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (ADOT&PF), the Alaska Division of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and Denali National Park Service are partnering to construct new pedestrian facilities, a rest area, and intersection improvements near the Denali National Park Boundary, MP 231 Parks Highway.

Parks Hwy- MP 203-259 Planning & Environmental Linkage (PEL) Study

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Western Federal Lands (WFL) and the National Park Service (NPS), are working together to identify potential future transportation and access improvements along the Parks Highway corridor (mileposts [MP] 203 and 259) between Cantwell and Healy.

The Cantwell to Healy PEL Study Report was finalized in early 2022 and is available to view online through the Alaska Dept. of Transportation & Public Facilities.
