May 14, 2003

CALL TO ORDER Presiding Officer Jim Caswell called the work session to order at 6:30 pm.

ROLL CALL Assembly members present were: Jim Caswell, Gerald Pollock, Sid Michaels, Baxter Mercer, Bob Shelton, David Evans, Neal Laugman, and Teresa Hall. Mayor Talerico was also in attendance.

1.) Ordinance 03-04, Version A, and ordinance amending the Denali Borough FY ‘03 budget.

MICHAELS discussed his proposed amendments that he will bring forth during the regular meeting. He proposed more spending reductions.

POLLOCK suggested lowering the line item for severance income for next year.

2.) Ordinance 03-05, Version A, an ordinance establishing the Denali Borough FY ’04 budget.

MICHAELS questioned the increase in the amount slated for the McKinley Village Volunteer Fire Department. He also submitted his request to increase funding to the Anderson Volunteer Fire Department.

MERCER questioned the amount of funding in the Railbelt Mental Health line item.

Discussion followed.

Due to time constraints the following items were not discussed:

1.) Ordinance 03-06, Version A, an ordinance establishing the Denali Borough 6 year CIP (Capital Improvements Program) plan.

2.) Ordinance 03-03, Version A, an ordinance amending the Denali Borough Code of Ordinances, Chapter 21, pertaining to severance tax.

3.) Ordinance 03-07, Version A, an ordinance amending the Denali Borough Code of Ordinances, Chapter 20, Section 3, to increase the amount of the Overnight Accommodations Tax.

ADJOURNMENT CASWELL declared the work session adjourned at 6:59 pm.
