RESOLUTION NO. 93-10
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING
GOLDEN VALLEY ELECTRIC ASSOCIATION
(GVEA) TO CONTINUE
OPERATING THE 911 EMERGENCY SERVICES
DISPATCH FOR THE HEALY
AREA.
WHEREAS, the 911 services system provides an
essential service to the Healy area; and
WHEREAS, the demand on the emergency services of
the Healy area is growing about 20% per year; and
WHEREAS, GVEA has operated a high quality and much
appreciated 911 dispatch service for the Healy area, on a volunteer basis,
above and beyond the call of duty since 1972; and
WHEREAS, GVEA has never been required to litigate
or settle any claim against any wrong doing resulting from the 911 dispatch
service they have operated for over twenty-one years; and
WHEREAS, no person, group, or organizational
entity can be made exempt from claims of gross negligence;
BE IT RESOLVED:
that the Borough Assembly hereby requests Golden Valley Electric
Association to continue the 911 emergency services dispatch that they now
operate.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that should GVEA find no other alternative but to discontinue the
911 dispatch, the Borough Assembly wishes them to maintain the status-quo until
such time as a viable and reliable alternative can be found.
