DENALI BOROUGH, ALASKA

RESOLUTION NO.  95-06

A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SELECTION OF THE WALKER, TATLANIKA, OR REX INTERTIE ROUTE.

WHEREAS, the Golden Valley Electric Association, GVEA, is considering  six routes thru the Denali Borough for the construction of a 230 kV transmission; and

WHEREAS, the Northern Intertie Revised Macro-Corridor Study and Project Alternative Study, MCS/PAR, evaluated each route for the Northern Intertie, as to its sensitivity to transmission line siting; and

WHEREAS, the MCS/PAR concluded that the South Route would most seriously harm environmental resources including endangered/threatened species nesting areas, residential/private lands and specific vistas; and

WHEREAS, the easternmost route, the Jumbo Route, traverses current and planned areas of operation for the Usibelli coal Mine; and

WHEREAS, the middle three routes, the Walker, Tatlanika, and Rex Routes pose none of the above objections.

THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Denali Borough supports the selection of any of the three middle proposed routes, the Walker, Tatlanika, or Rex Routes.

PASSED and APPROVED by the DENALI BOROUGH ASSEMBLY this 12th

day of February, 1995.
