DENALI BOROUGH,
RESOLUTION NO. 94-03
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING
BOROUGH INVOLVEMENT
IN STATE LEASE NEGOTIATIONS.
WHEREAS, the State prepares Area Management Plans
to guide the Department of Natural Resources management of State lands; and
WHEREAS, the Tanana
Basin Area (Management) Plan is in effect within the Denali Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Tanana
Basin Area Plan recommends setting side sub units 4R2, 4R3, 4R4, and 4R5 within
the Nenana River Corridor for legislative designation
as a State Recreation River; and
WHEREAS, the Tanana
Basin Area Plan states: that to
accommodate future needs of the Municipal Government certain uplands within
these subunits are expected to be considered for conveyance to the Denali
Borough;
AND WHEREAS, the Denali Borough residents and
their elected representatives live closer to the economic trends and social
needs of local communities within the Borough than do representatives of the
State Department of Natural Resources.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Denali Borough government be
actively involved in the process determining the fee and duration of the leases
being negotiated by the State Department of Natural Resources on lands the Tanana Basin Area Plan identifies as suitable for Borough
selection.
