ROLL CALL Assembly members present were: Sid Michaels, Jim Caswell, Teresa Hall, Jerry Mueller, Teresa Usibelli, Jim Payne, Gerald Pollock, and Mayor Gonzales. Absent assembly members included Carol Shields and Dave Talerico.
Mayor
Gonzales said he wanted to be sure the Assembly was aware that the State has
approved the City of Anderson’s population request change for State funding
purposes. According to the letter, the
City of Anderson has a population of 513, which revises the Borough population,
in this instance, to 2,039.

Article XI, Section 11.01, regarding a sales tax.

Ordinance
01-13, Version A, an ordinance establishing a 2% general sales tax within the
Denali Borough. (Introduced by Assembly
member Teresa Hall)
Charlie Loeb, Healy resident, said
each proposed tax ordinance is becoming more and more like a general sales
tax. He said he would like to encourage
the Assembly to consider providing more services if this type of tax is
implemented. He said if all goods and
services are taxed in the Borough, then he feels that would have a depressing
effect on our economy and any future development.
