DENALI BOROUGH, ALASKA

RESOLUTION NO. 94-08

A RESOLUTION IN FAVOR OF EXTENDING THE TIME LIMIT FOR

COMMENT ON THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES PROPOSED

SUBSTITUTE LANDS WITHIN THE DENALI BOROUGH.

WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Land proposes to designate or convey certain lands in the Denali Borough to the Mental Health Trust; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor of the Denali Borough had requested an extension of the deadline (March 15, 1994) for comment but was denied; and

WHEREAS, the public and the Land Use Planning Committee need more time to decide which Proposed Substitute Lands (PSL) are objectionable, as some of these lands are near existing private land parcels; and

WHEREAS, the public and the Land Use Planning Committee would like to know what "use" the Mental Health Trust has in mind for these land; and

WHEREAS, the following PSL numbers have already been identified by the public as possibly objectionable; and

WHEREAS, the Denali Borough Land Use Planning Committee is currently working with the public on the formulation of a Comprehensive Land Use Plan, and is beginning to plan which lands will be selected for the Borough's Municipal Entitlement;

AND WHEREAS, the Borough Assembly would like to see the lands that conform to the terms of the Municipal Entitlement Act not be offered as PSL until the Borough has had a chance to review them and make its municipal selections.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: the Denali Borough Assembly hereby requests a time extension to adequately review these Proposed Substitute Lands.
