RESOLUTION NO. 05-05

A RESOLUTION HONORING THE HEALY HOCKEY ASSOCIATION’S HEALY COAL KING PEE WEE TEAM

AS ALASKA STATE TIER 4 CHAMPIONS FOR THE YEAR 2005

WHEREAS, the Healy Coal Kings won its round robin games against Homer 5-1, Big Lake 5-1, and Fairbanks Amateur Hockey Association 6-0 and earned a tie against Anchorage Hockey Association 3-3; and

WHEREAS , The Healy Coal Kings advanced to the championship game by defeating Kenai 4-0; and

WHEREAS, the athletes on the Healy Coal King Pee Wee hockey team from the Denali Borough in the community of Healy won the 2005 Alaska State tier 4 State Championship by defeating Homer Mariners with a score of 11-4; and

WHEREAS, the Healy Hockey Association was created in 1991 in an effort to bring healthy family activities to our community; and

WHEREAS, Healy Hockey Association preserves and creates opportunities for over 100 athletes involved in its programs ; and

WHEREAS, Healy Hockey Association and its hockey teams are operated and coached by volunteers who receive no compensation; and

WHEREAS, in winning the championship, the Healy Coal Kings demonstrated the highest level of team play; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Healy Coal Kings Pee Wee Hockey team include Jesse Arbuckle, Bailey Brewer, Darryl Chepoda, Rachel Chepoda, Kazimir Cizmowski, Hanes Hall, Caleb Harris, Mylinda Johnson, Dakota Maciver, Forest Shreeve, Keegan Thompson, David Townsend, Parker Vacura and Bering Hallaron ; and

WHEREAS, Coach Martin Brewer and assistant coaches Tim Maciver and Lynn Thompson and the members of the Pee Wee Team have brought much deserved recognition to Healy Hockey Association; and

WHEREAS, such recognition reflects positively on our community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Denali Borough Assembly hereby congratulates Coach Brewer and the members of the 2004-2005 Healy Hockey Association Healy Coal Kings Pee Wee Team for winning the 2005 Alaska State Hockey Tier 4 championships.
