ORDINANCE NO. 96-20

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A BALLOT
QUESTION TO BE PLACED BEFORE THE QUALIFIED VOTERS AT THE NEXT REGULAR ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 1996, PERTAINING TO THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION COST
FOR THE DENALI BOROUGH MUNICIPAL
LANDFILL.
BE IT ENACTED by the Assembly of the Denali Borough, Alaska
that:
Section 1.
Classification.
This ordinance is a non-code
ordinance.
Section 2. This
ordinance establishes design and construction costs.
The Denali Borough has received a
grant in the amount of $100,000 for the design of a municipal landfill in
conformance with the Environmental Protection Agency and Alaska Department of
Environmental conservation mandates and guidelines.
The Denali Borough plans to apply
for additional funding for the construction phase which may or may not require
supplementary funding from the general fund.
Any additional funding and expenditures will require approval and
appropriation from the Borough Assembly as well as public hearings and input
from the residents. The estimated cost
for the design and construction cost is approximately $ 1,104,000, of
which 100,000 has been received. The
balance has been applied for through the State of Alaska Village Safe Water
Grant Program. Shall the Borough
proceed with the Municipal Landfill Project in accordance with Ordinance 96-16?
A YES vote means the Borough will
proceed with the Municipal Landfill Project.
A NO vote means that the Borough
will NOT proceed with the Municipal Landfill Project.
Section 3. Effective
Date. This ordinance becomes effective upon adoption by the Borough Assembly, signature
of the Mayor, and a majority vote at the next Regular election to be held on
November 5th, 1996.
